Energy Neighbour

Energy Neighbour provides one-on-one no-cost guidance to homeowners doing clean energy retrofits (mostly heat pumps, hot water and solar). We are always happy to take your call for a consultation and/or to answer any questions. There is no cost and no obligation and we can refer you to a neighbour to hear about their clean energy experience.  Awareness building is important - we are available to do presentations about home electrification including heat pumps, solar, batteries, etc.

History

This initiative started as a collective of Toronto neighbours getting support through the confusing solar installation process.

Tell us about your team

Our team has worked one-on-one with hundreds of satisfied homeowners to achieve successful heat pump, hot water and solar installations. We understand the technology options, installation process, and financing options. We partner only with the best and most experienced contractors in the field.

What are your organization’s strengths and focus areas?

Customer Service: our one-on-one guidance is what our clients really appreciate. We make sure the homeowner understands the process and their options; we provide support from initial consultation to project completion. Our clients regularly say “I’m so glad I found you”.

How do you interact with homeowners?

We schedule an initial phone conversation followed by an in-person home assessment with the contractor (we typically attend this meeting) and then provide ongoing phone and email support until completion.

Is your company’s staff certified by NRCan to perform EnerGuide audits?

No - we refer to excellent auditors.

Has your company’s staff completed the HRAI Residential Heat Loss and Heat Gain Calculations course for sizing heat pumps?

Our staff have the knowledge and experience to provide an overview of the technology options, the installation process, best practices, lessons learned and FAQs to prepare for heat pump and solar installations. We then bring in highly trained top contractors for detailed analysis and quotes.  We act as a liaison between contractor and client throughout the process. This continuous support is particularly helpful for the multi-step (and often confusing) solar process.

Do you have any commercial/financial relationship with contractors or equipment suppliers?

Yes - we receive a referral fee from a small group of top contractors whom we have thoroughly vetted and worked with repeatedly. They are contractually obligated to provide their best prices to our clients.
