Homes To Zero was founded in 2020 to educate homeowners, simplify the journey to Net Zero and scale the retrofit market.

What services do you offer?

We offer a 5 step process to achieve a Net Zero home.

1.   Climate Score – FREE

An online tool that provides an accurate measure of your home’s current energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions.

2.   Net Zero Assessment

This comprehensive report evaluates your home against a Net Zero home in your climate zone. The report identifies areas for improvement, costs, incentives and the top 3 recommended upgrades for your home to maximize savings and climate impact.

3.   Net Zero Plan

A personalized renovation plan based on your priorities, budget, and schedule. This includes:

• Accurate energy predictions and emissions forecasts post-retrofit upgrades.

• Financial analysis of total and incremental costs, including payback for each recommended upgrade.

• Recommendations and guidance on embodied carbon and material selection.

• Expert advice on available incentives and financing options in your area.

4.   Implementation

Connecting businesses with climate solutions to the homeowners who need them.  Services are tailored to your requirements.

5.  Monitoring

Through the online dashboard you can track your home’s Climate Score over time as you implement your Net Zero plan

Tell us about your team

Our CEO, Carolyn Moss, is a graduate of Carleton University, licensed architect, LEED, Passive House and Net Zero certified.  She has been working with homeowners, contractors and suppliers retrofitting homes for over 20 years.

Our COO, Jill Lock, graduated from University of Edinburgh with a degree in Mathematics and has been using data to help companies manage their risk efficiently for over 20 years and now uses data to help homeowners move to Net Zero.

What are your organization’s strengths and focus areas?

Homes to Zero provides the tools and resources homeowners need to retrofit their homes. By combining expertise in Net Zero retrofits and technology we can provide fast, low cost, high quality solutions to homeowners to aid in their journey to Net Zero.

Our focus is on reducing the climate impact of our homes.

How do you interact with homeowners?

We interact with homeowners in many ways.  Initially through online surveys to get home details and emails to talk about the projects. Later in the process we may schedule online meetings or in person site visits to get more in depth information.

Is your company’s staff certified by NRCan to perform EnerGuide audits?

Yes.

Has your company’s staff completed the HRAI Residential Heat Loss and Heat Gain Calculations course for sizing heat pumps?

Our CEO, Carolyn Moss, is an architect with 25 years experience in designing deep energy retrofits.  She is LEED and Passive House and Net Zero trained with expertise in low carbon embodied and operational residential construction.

Do you have any commercial/financial relationship with contractors or equipment suppliers?

Yes.
